On behalf of the Australian Kendo Federation (AKR) Board and all members, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the AKR Kendo Committee for their dedicated efforts and dedication towards making this historic event a reality.
Special thanks to Mr. Jayson Chaplin for making the vision a reality. Over the years, people have been talked about the necessity and the idea of a tournament like this, but Mr. Jayson took the initiative and made it happen with strong faith and determination. I am deeply grateful for his efforts.
I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to the President of the NSW Kendo Association and the Board of Directors for their efforts as the hosting location for this memorable first tournament and for supporting this event which will be an important milestone in the Australian Kendo world.
This tournament is a symbol of the journey and growth that we the kendo community have walked thus far. Watching each state come together to support and cheer on the Junior Swordsmen is truly a special joy. This tournament will be an important first step for the next generation of swordsmen to learn, grow, and one day represent Australia on the international stage. It also coincides with Australia’s impressive results in both participation and performance at the first Asian and Oceania Kendo Championships that we proudly participated in.
My heart is filled with pride, passion, and great anticipation as I witness the beginning of this new history. I sincerely hope that this tournament will continue to grow into a successful national tournament for many years to come.
To all the players, families, tournament officials, and everyone who supports – welcome. And I hope this 1st Junior Australian Kendo Championships will be the start of many wonderful memories.
Sincerely
