There will be a lunch break each day scheduled during the sessions in a way that causes the least disruption to each day’s activities.
Cost
The event registration fee is $220. Grading application fees are additional; please refer to the grading information below.
As there will be a partial seminar before the grading, members wishing to attend the grading day only can pay a reduced fee of $100.

Catering
There are a number of food venues at the University Campus that will be open Saturday and Monday for lunch. The options on Saturday are limited to Schnitz and Gosman and Gomez, though different venueswill also be available on Monday. You will be able to purchase a lunch pack that will be available for collection at the venue on Sunday. This will consist of a
sandwich (or something similar) plus a bottle of water. The pack will cost $15 and can be ordered during your seminar registration.
Seminar Dinner
The seminar dinner will be held on Sunday 15 September. To assist the venue with numbers, pleaseindicate how many people will be attending during your seminar registration. Ordering and payment will be through QR code ordering on the night.

Parking
Parking at the University is free on Saturday and Sunday. If you wish to par on Monday, please downloadthe Cello Park app and register before Monday. This app can then be used to pay for parking on Monday
Grading applications
A grading will be held for dan grade candidates on Saturday 14 September. We can confirm that grading is available to 5 dan.
There is no kyu grading at this event.
Grading applications must be submitted via your National Federation or State Renmei as per the process outlined in the gradings page; https://www.kendoaustralia.asn.au/content/?page_id=2830
The process must be strictly adhered to in order to be examined. Failure to comply with this process will result in a candidate NOT being eligible to grade on the day.
Australian Iaido Championships
This year we will celebrate the 32nd Australian Iaido Championships with two events
Goodwill Iaido Teams Competition
3-person teams will be drawn by the Iaido Board. Each team will be made up of people from different states and different grades with a total grade cap to give everyone the chance of a challenging and fair competition.
Individual Iaido Competitions
Subject to numbers there will be individual competition events for:
6 – 4 kyu | 3 – 1 kyu | 1 Dan | 2 Dan |
3 Dan | 4 Dan | 5 Dan | 6 Dan |
Note that we may merge or cancel individual events if the number of competitors in any event will not allow for a reasonable competition.
This decision is at the sole discretion of the Iaido Board Chair in discussion with members of the Iaido Board present on the day.
Important: If you are attempting a Dan grading, please register for the competition grade you are currently.Grading results will be announced after the grading but will not apply for the purpose of the competition.
Weapons
To reduce risk of injury, pariticipants are requested to bring Iaito only to the seminar.
Shinken are Prohibited Weapons under the Victoria Control of Weapons Act 1990.
Members of affiliates the AKR are exempt under section 8B of the Act.
HOWEVER there are conditions to this exemption, namely that the AKR must be satisfied that the member is not a ‘prohibited person’. If you are concerned, you can provide a Statutory Declaration affitming you are not a prohibited person and the AKR will provide a supporting letter to attendees in the very very unlikely case that you are approached by Police. Changing
Change rooms are available at the venue. Attendees are asked to ensure that they use the change room or come to the venue already in keikogi. Please do NOT get changed in the dojo itself.
