Happy New Year for 2013!

Dear AKR Members, sensei and instructors, members of committees and boards, club and dojo volunteers who help to make projects happen, all the people who practice kendo, iaido and jodo and to overseas friends of the Australian Kendo Renmei.

Compliments of the season to you all and best wishes to you and your families for a happy, healthy and successful New Year in 2013!

Thank you all very much for your efforts, commitment of energy and time and your contribution to the success of our activities in Australia.  I hope that your interest, enjoyment and participation in Kendo, Iaido and Jodo, continues and develops for many years to come.

Our activities for the New Year commence in just three weeks!

The 22nd Australian Iaido Championships and 13th Australian Jodo Championship Seminar and Dan Exams, will be held in Hobart during January.  In February, the 2nd Oceania Zone Women’s Kendo Seminar will be held in Sydney, then in late March, the 38th Australian Kendo Championships, Seminar and senior Kendo Dan Exams, also in Sydney.

The International Kendo Federation (FIK) Asian Zone Kendo Referee Seminar will be conducted in Taiwan, in mid March; the AJKF Kendo Summer School in Japan, in late July.  The increasingly popular University Games Kendo Competition in late September, in Queensland and the 2nd SportAccord Combat Games in Russia, in October.

We are also excited that the following year’s FIK Asian Zone Kendo Referee Seminar will be held during the first quarter of 2014 in Sydney!
