It is with pleasure to announce that Sensei Yoichi Yano, Kendo 7 Dan was awarded the Shogo level of Kendo Kyoshi.
Commencing in 2011, the All Japan Kendo Federation opened up their examination for Kyoshi, to Kendo, Iaido and Jodo pratitioners who do not reside in Japan.
Yano sensei travelled to Japan to sit a gruelling half day exam in Tokyo in November 2011, which he passed.
This is an important milestone for Australian Kendo as Yano sensei commenced kendo training in Sydney during the 1970’s and therefore we can claim him as a home-grown kendoka!
The Australian Kendo Renmei warmly congratulates Yano sensei on his achievement.
