The Australian Kendo Renmei Inc., (AKR) is the internationally recognised, governing body for Kendo, Iaido and Jodo in Australia.

The Australian Sports Commission recognises the Australian Kendo Renmei as the National Sporting Organisation to develop kendo, iaido and jodo in Australia.

The Australian Kendo Renmei (Inc.) and our affiliated  member dojos, clubs and associations are also affiliated with the International Kendo Federation (FIK). The FIK is the world-wide federation of national Kendo, Iaido and Jodo organisations.  The FIK is affiliated with SportAccord (formerly GAISF) a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Agency drugs in sport policy and is recognised as the international governing federation for Kendo, Iaido and Jodo.

Jodo Seminar - October, 2017. Canberra, ACT.

Dates: 27 – 29 October 2017

The Jodo Board will be conducting a Jodo seminar in Canberra on 27, 28t & 29 October 2017.


The Seminar will be conducted with the support and guidance of the following sensei:

  • Ah Loi Lee Sensei, Jodo Renshi 7 dan.
  • Janet Griffiths Sensei, Jodo Renshi 6 dan.
  • Russell Lawrence Sensei, Jodo 5 dan.

Jodo Sessions will be conducted both days 0900 – 1200 and 1300-1600.

We will be holding a jodo specific seminar which has often been requested and being conducted by
the most senior active teaching in Australia. This is an excellent opportunity for all jodo members to
receive the latest instruction from Japan as the visiting Sensei have recently returned from AJKF
seminar and exams.

The Jodo Board urges all members to support this initiative, with the view to holding these events on a
more regular basis. All those considering grading in the near future should take full advantage of
this seminar.
