{"id":1486,"date":"2011-09-15T11:47:54","date_gmt":"2011-09-15T00:47:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kendoaustralia.asn.au\/content\/?p=1486"},"modified":"2011-09-15T12:05:03","modified_gmt":"2011-09-15T01:05:03","slug":"yuko-datotsu-expressed-graphically","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kendoaustralia.asn.au\/content\/?p=1486","title":{"rendered":"Yuko-datotsu expressed graphically"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ever wondered about Article 12 in the FIK\u00a0Regulations of Kendo Shiai and Shinpan?<\/p>\n<p>Here is the clause:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Article 12:<\/strong> <em>Yuko-datotsu<\/em> is defined as an accurate strike or thrust made onto <em>Datotsu-bui<\/em> of the opponent&#8217; s <em>Kendo-gu<\/em> with <em>Shinai <\/em>at its <em>Datotsu-bu<\/em> in high spirits and correct posture, being followed by <em>Zanshin<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>To win a point in kendo shiai, all those criteria must be met. \u00a0This is a challenge for players and for shinpan. \u00a0So to assist understanding of the requirements to award yuko-datotsu and to promote &#8220;good&#8221; kendo, the All Japan Kendo Federation have developed a graphical representation of that rule.
