{"id":1416,"date":"2011-05-15T19:15:05","date_gmt":"2011-05-15T08:15:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kendoaustralia.asn.au\/content\/?p=1416"},"modified":"2011-09-05T15:02:05","modified_gmt":"2011-09-05T04:02:05","slug":"2011-summer-school-participants-and-renshi-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kendoaustralia.asn.au\/content\/?p=1416","title":{"rendered":"2011 Summer School participants and Renshi awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>15 May 2011<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>All Japan Kendo Federation 2011 Foreign Kendo Leaders\u2019 Summer Seminar.<\/strong><br \/>\nFor over 30 years the AJKF have provided accommodation and kendo instruction to a selected number of kendoka from overseas countries, to attend a gruelling week of comprehensive kendo training and instructor development in Japan.  This year\u2019s Summer School will be held from July 29 to August 5 in Kitamoto city, Saitama prefecture, north of Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>The AKR nominated four highly suitable members to attend the 2011 Summer School, but due to the popularity and the high numbers of candidates, only two of our nominated kendo colleagues were selected.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>AKR is very pleased to announce the Australian members selected for this year\u2019s Summer School are<br \/>\nSharyn WRAGG of the (ACTKR) and Anthony BESTON of the (WAKR).<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to both Sharyn and Tony and we hope that they both benefit from the experience and wish them well for their travels.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kendo Renshi Awarded to three AKR members<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The award of the shogo level of Renshi is an important milestone in the career of a kendo player.<br \/>\nThe attainment Renshi in Australia requires a number of AKR and AJKF criteria to be met, these include being 6th Dan for at least a year and other stringent requirements which are detailed in the AKR policy manual.  The final step is for an examination paper to be then assessed as successful by an examination panel of the AJKF.<\/p>\n<p>We are very happy to announce that following the exam in Kyoto, Japan on 6 May, that Brian BRESTOVAC of the WAKR, Yuji SANO of the NSWKA and Takashi ITAKURA also of the NSWKA were all successful and have been awarded Kendo Renshi.<\/p>\n<p>AKR warmly congratulates sensei Brestovac, Sano and Itakura on their award.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>15 May 2011 All Japan Kendo Federation 2011 Foreign Kendo Leaders\u2019 Summer Seminar.
