{"id":957,"date":"2010-07-06T15:33:09","date_gmt":"2010-07-06T04:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kendoaustralia.asn.au\/content\/?page_id=957"},"modified":"2016-04-20T23:01:11","modified_gmt":"2016-04-20T12:01:11","slug":"sportaccord-first-combat-games-beijing-china","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.kendoaustralia.asn.au\/content\/?page_id=957","title":{"rendered":"2010 SportAccord First Combat Games, Beijing, China"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>In March 2009,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sportaccord.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">SportAccord<\/a> signed an agreement with the city of Beijing, Peoples Republic of China, to organise the first SportAccord Combat Games. \u00a0Scheduled from 28 August to 4 September 2010, the competition will showcase 13 Martial Arts and Combat sports, both Olympic and non-Olympic, including Kendo.<\/p>\n<p>The event will also include a Cultural Program that will reflect the social and cultural values of those arts and sports\u00a0and the Combat Games as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>Each Martial Art or Combat sport\u00a0will have 80 top athletes competing in the Games. \u00a0It is expected that the world best martial arts and combat sports athletes will qualify for the Combat Games. Both male and female athletes will take part.<\/p>\n<p>The Games are supported by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kendo-fik.org\/english-page\/english-page2\/Combat-Games-News-Letter.html\" target=\"_blank\">International Kendo Federation<\/a> (FIK) and the AKR.<br \/>\nMore information is at the FIK Games\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kendo-fik.org\/english-page\/english-page2\/Combat-Games-News-Letter.html\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a> and Combat Games\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sports.tom.com\/combatbeijing2010\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mar 16, 2010<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>AKR kendo players selected for the SportAccord Combat Games.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Brett Smith, and Kate Sylvester!<\/p>\n<p>Brett and Kate were selected by the AKR Kendo Board to represent Australia at the first SportAccord Combat Games, to be held in Beijing from 28 August to 4 September 2010.
