Chiaki next met this year\u2019s Champion Y. Takami of Japan. Vivian won her first qualifying round and advanced to the top 16.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s Individual Championship<\/strong> &#8211; August 28, 2009<br \/>\n<strong> 1st Place: JPN 5 &#8211; SHOJI TERAMOTO<\/strong><br \/>\n2nd Place: KOR 8 &#8211; BYONG HOON PARK<br \/>\n3rd Place : KOR 9 &#8211; CHUL-KYU CHOI<br \/>\n3rd Place : KOR 2 &#8211; KANG-HO LEE<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fighting Spirit Award<\/strong><br \/>\nHUN 2 &#8211; Norbert Kiraly<br \/>\nJPN 7 &#8211; Tsuneomi Furusawa<br \/>\nHUN 4 &#8211; Gabor Babos<br \/>\nITA 2 &#8211; Frabizio Mandia<br \/>\nAUS 1 &#8211; Kirby Smith<br \/>\nUSA 8 &#8211; Jason Brown<br \/>\nJPN 10 &#8211; Daisuki Wako<br \/>\nUSA 2 &#8211; Daniel Yang<\/p>\n<p>Australian Men\u2019s Team Captain Kirby Smith reached the quarter finals, only to be defeated by the new Champion, S. Teramoto. Kirby Smith received a Fighting Spirit Award.<\/p>\n<p>All Australian Men win their pools and advanced to the qualifying round. Stuart Burke reaches top 16 and Kirby Smith reaches the top 8.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s Team Championship &#8211; August 29, 2009.<\/strong> (19 teams).<\/p>\n<p><strong>1st Place:  JAPAN.<\/strong> (JPN 1 &#8211; Shoko Otsuji; JPN 2 &#8211; Keiko Kondo; JPN 3 &#8211; Yoko Sakuma; JPN 4 &#8211; Mika Shimokawa; JPN 8 &#8211; Yuka Tsubota; JPN 9 &#8211; Shinatsu Murayama; JPN 10 &#8211; Mariko Yamamoto).<\/p>\n<p><strong>2nd Place: KOREA<\/strong>. (BRA 1 &#8211; Elzami Miwa Onaka; BRA 2 &#8211; Lilian Natsumi Miyazawa; BRA 3 &#8211; Maria Carolina Kyouko Takeuchi; BRA 4 &#8211; Cristiane Lie Toida; BRA 5 &#8211; Izumi Honda; BRA 6 &#8211; Mariana Harumi Cruz Tsukamoto; BRA 7 &#8211; Erika Keiko Ashiuchi).<\/p>\n<p><strong>3rd Place: USA<\/strong>. (USA 1 &#8211; Shannon Mikuni; USA 2 &#8211; Kaori Kikunaga; USA 3 &#8211; Mistuyo Sakae; USA 4 &#8211; Sachiko Tamura; USA 5 &#8211; Michiye Cabral; USA 6 &#8211; Grace Lee; USA 7 &#8211; Nishiki Sano).<\/p>\n<p>Australian Women\u2019s Team defeated Sweden to advance to the qualifying round to win against China. \u00a0 In the second round the team met the current and new world champions, Japan. \u00a0Team Captain Kate Sylvester tied in the final match 1-1 with the Japanese taisho.
