Additional rules and regulations may apply for competition and are below.<\/p>\n<p>Update from the Kendo Board on 4 September 2023<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Provisional Shiai and Shinpan Rules in Place Until the Covid-19 Pandemic is Brought Under Control. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kendoaustralia.asn.au\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/provisional_shiai_and_shinpan_rules_en_20230401.pdf\">PDF<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Questions and explanations of the provisional shiai and shinpan rules. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kendoaustralia.asn.au\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/questions_and_explanations_of_the_provisional_shiai_and_shinpan_rules_20230401.pdf\">PDF<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>REGULATIONS FOR SHINAI IN COMPETITION.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Updated by the Kendo Board on 7 June 2023<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Shinai shall be made of bamboo, or of synthetic material as a substitute of bamboo approved by the ALL JAPAN KENDO FEDERATION. The structure, length, weight, diameter of shinai and specification of tsuba are stipulated in the FIK Subsidiary Rules for Kendo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Shinai shall consist of four slats and shall not include therein other objects than the core inside sakigawa and chigiri inlaid at the end of the tsuka.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The specifications of shinai are indicated in Table A and B; the length indicated therein refers to the total length of shinai inclusive of its accessories, and the weight to the total weight thereof inclusive of its accessories other than tsuba. The diameter of shinai shall refer to the minimum diameter of the tip of sakigawa.<br \/>\nTsuba shall be round in shape and he made of leather or synthetic material; it shall be 9 centimeters or smaller in diameter and shall be fixed onto the shinai.<\/p>\n<p>Full document <a kendo competitions shall wear <em>nafuda\u00a0<\/em>as shown in Figures 1, 2 or 3.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>nafuda\u00a0<\/em>shall be affixed to the centre piece of the <em>tare<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Dimensions:
