The AKR is very grateful for the continuing support of the All Japan Kendo Federation for our big annual kendo event.

This year the AJKF Delegation to attend the Australian Kendo Championships will be –

Mr. Yasuo SUZUKI, Kendo Hanshi 8 Dan and Mr. Shigehiko FUKUMOTO, Kendo Kyoshi 8 Dan.  Both sensei joined us in Perth last year and it’s great to welcome them back.

2 April: AJKF Delegation arrives.19:00 AJKF Delegation Welcome with AKR Committee /Kendo Board and local kendo officials.

3rd April (Friday) Competitor Registration 08:00-15:30 tbc: Kenshikan Dojo, West Melbourne. Shinpan briefing 16:00: Kenshikan Dojo, West Melbourne.

4th & 5th April (Sat/Sun) 40th AKC – Day 1 & 2. Venue: Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC), Albert Park.

4th April (Sat) 2015 7.30pm. Championships Dinner. Venue: The Shark Fin Inn 50 Little Bourke Street, Melbourne.

6th & 7th April (Monday/Tuesday) 2015 AKC – Seminar Day and Day 1 (Mon/Tue). Sports Hall at Victoria University, Footscray Park Campus, Footscray VIC 3011.

8th April (Wednesday) 2015. Kendo 1 to 5 Dan Exam. Sports Hall at Victoria University, Footscray Park Campus, Footscray VIC 3011.  Online application only.

Competition Rules. These will also be distributed to States.

CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES
The following Individual Championships are to be contested: (Note 1)
1. Individual Kyu Grade Men’s Championship
2. Individual Kyu Grade Women’s Championship
3. Individual Dan Grade Men’s Championship
4. Individual Dan Grade Women’s Championship
5. Veteran’s Individual Championship

The following Team Championships are to be contested: (Note 1)
6. Teams Kyu Grade Championship (Note 2)
7. Teams Open Grade Men’s Championship (Note 3)
8. Teams Kyu Grade Women’s Championship (Note 4)
9. Teams Open Grade Women’s Championship (Note 4)
10. Teams Kata Championship

Note 1: A player may compete in only one individual event and only one Teams event (Kata excepted).
Note 2: : If a state has a low number of competitors, men and women are permitted to comprise a Kyu Grade Team.
Note 3: In an unusual circumstance and if a state has a low number of competitors, then after the approval of the Kendo Board is provided, men and women are permitted to assemble an Open Grade Men’s Team.
Note 4: Men are not permitted to compete in a Women’s event.
