AUSTRALIAN KENDO RENMEI INSTRUCTOR ACCREDITATION SCHEME.To better serve our members and to protect, assist sensei and instructors, a scheme was introduced on 29 December 2007, to train, develop and accredit AKR members who perform in teaching roles, to reach certain benchmarks and agree to defined ethics and principles. The first steps:
AKR AIS levels 1,2 and 3 coincide with those of the NCAS administered by the Australian Sports Commission. For example, a member who was previously an NCAS Level 2 Coach, is accredited as an AKR IAS Level 2 coach. Currently accredited instructorsThe current accreditation is valid until 30 June 2009. After that, accredited instructors who accept and sign the ASC or AKR Coaching code of behaviour and AKR safety document/s will be re-accredited for three years. Following those initial steps, the AKR IAS will then have the same requirements as the NCAS. AKR IAS level "E" instructors The new AKR IAS level "E" is the base level for all AKR new instructors. Accreditation requirements are - must be successfully assessed as completing the ASC Beginning Coaching General Principles Course, or equivalent; accept and sign the ASC or AKR Coaching code of behaviour and AKR safety document/s. The ASC Beginning Coaching General Principles Course is available to be completed and assessed online, details are on the ASC website. The AKR IAS portal is no longer used. A new approach to managing renewals will be announced. Beyond these actions, AKR plans to re-commence the art specific Level 1, 2 and 3 IAS courses. More will be advised on that as it develops. The AKR Instrucors Ethics form and Safety Document are being reviewed as of May 2009. When complete, they will be available from this site.
